Whether you're planning to stay in your home for years to come or you're thinking of selling in the near future, you still have to maintain your home. These guides can answer questions you might have, or at least point you towards the advice you need.
- Mold: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently published a booklet on mold, “A Brief Guide to Mold, Moisture, and Your Home”, that answers questions about the hazards of mold, how to approach cleanup, and prevention and control tips. This is a PDF file (278k)
- Lead paint is another potential hazard that may concern homebuyers and homesellers alike. “Protect Your Family From Lead in Your Home“ PDF file (673k).
- Kids & Chemicals at Home: The EPA also has a website called “Learn About Chemicals Around Your House” aimed at educating children about household chemicals. The site is interactive, not a file to download.
- Flooded Home: We've had lots of rain! If you've experience a flood, these two publications might help. The publication, Repairing Your Flooded Home, provides a step-by-step guide to repairing your home and how to get help after a flood disaster. It's quite large (62 pages long) and the PDF file is 4.51MB. There is another publication, After the Flood: The First Steps, that is a smaller PDF file (190k).
